Isolation

ISOLATION is a material representation of individuality, family and state of mind.  Glass houses grouped in a family are separated from one another atop thin stilts to illustrate the contrast inherent in material, individual and family life. Each form/pattern is similar and grouped together yet unique and alone. 

All together in isolation.

Familial unity .. material lives.. physical isolation  … glass houses on stilts – precarious material reality .. mental states.

The break in family unity and anxiety inducing illness of my son, cast in stark relief the precarious nature of material and immaterial reality.  One can be part of a familial whole in one moment, and be isolated in the clinical environment of a hospital the next.  One can be part of a large tribe but cannot escape the confines of their mind and body.
